To the Editor:

Two years ago, the voters of Rochester sent me to Concord to help rein in spending, balance the budget, and focus on the economy. Well, I did just that. We passed a fiscally responsible, balanced budget that cut state spending, cut taxes and fees, and set New Hampshire on a financially sustainable path.

In addition to focusing on fiscal issues, I served on the House Education Committee, the House Business Coalition, and four study committees. At the same time, I provided constituent service by responding to questions, filing bills, and arranging meetings, for constituents, with administrative departments.

Five of the bills I sponsored passed. One of them, HB 222, changes agency rule-making authority to be more specific, thus preventing overregulation and excessive fees. Another, HB 1448, requires greater transparency of state government. Yet another, SB 296, is common-sense legislation which allows a person to include next-of-kin contact information on his or her driver’s license. I am running for re-election, in Wards 4 and 5, to continue to pass legislation that improves New Hampshire and grows our economy. If re-elected, I will continue to work with our business community to draft policies that help them create jobs. I will work to make state-government more cost effective to keep taxes in check, and I will support balanced budgets that do not raise taxes or fees.
